The author feels really honoured that the daughter of PO Stoker Geoff Wright DSM has taken the time to leave a fantastic 5 Star review of the book 'Being Silent They Speak' on Amazon.com for all to see. Thank you Jan (see review below)
PO Stoker Geoff Wright DSM
Thank you David for researching and writing the history of HMS Unbeaten. It is of great personal interest to me as my Father, Geoff Wright, was a crew member. I am the (now aged) 4 year old mentioned in the opening chapters, and have grown up knowing so little of my Dad's life at sea. I remember being on Unbeaten, and remember waving goodbye to Dad for the last time as the train bore him off to further duty under various seas. In taking me along this (often emotional) journey you have answered many questions in my mind, and given me an accurate written version of
events that I can now pass on to my sons and grandchildren, together with medals, including his DSM, personal and naval memorabilia.
When compiling a book like this one can never know how many lives are touched, and (apart from the tragedy of war for every participant) how many minds are put at rest. We know the resting place of Unbeaten, and the brave men who manned her, and are grateful for your interpretation of their journey to the deep.
Sincerely.. Jan Brenton Eavis (nee Wright)
