Its nearly here!
It is with great pride I can now announce that the foreword of my book ‘Being Silent They Speak’ about HMS/M Unbeaten, has been written and incorporated in the pages of the 1st edition.
The Foreword was very kindly contributed by Admiral Sir James Perowne KBE, who was Flag Officer Submarines in 1996 and among other roles is now President of the Submariners’ Association. The foreword captures the very essence of my book succinctly. Sir James said of the book, ‘All this has been painstakingly researched by the author who has done a magnificent job in putting her exploits together not only in a readable way but also capturing the highs and lows, the exhilaration and the terror of these dangerous and demanding patrols’.
The book will be out in an eBook format towards the end of November 2012. I intend to fulfil paperback pre-orders requested around the paperback publish date which is displayed on Amazon as end of January 2013. I am self publishing and several things, which are beyond my control, do not go as fast as I would like. I thank everyone for their patience, and the book will be out soon. Watch this space!
Sir James ended his foreword by saying, ‘David J.B. Smith is to be congratulated on such a useful contribution to the history of Royal Navy submarines in the Second World War’.
Praise indeed!
